See the future, Be the future. Be The Green!

Be The Green’s mission is to create a grassroots creative campaign to inform people about the Green New Deal - in ways that everyday people, in every community, can see, hear, feel, and understand. We want to create the cultural fuel for this movement.

Just as the GND resolution calls for democracy in planning, implementation, and control of the Green New Deal mobilization by local communities, so must its vision and goals first be clearly imagined, understood and shared by the grassroots. Mass movements are the only unknown variable in the climate equation.

Purpose:

Be the Green is organizing a Green New Deal art coalition because:

1) We have 10 years to collectively plan our future together and organize to achieve it. Now is the perfect time to do this.

2) We believe in the people. We can achieve shared goals, like those in the Green New Deal, together.

3) We need every community involved in this. “To change everything, we need everyone.” -Greta Thunberg

4) We need many different ways to convey the Green New Deal so everyone has understanding, ownership, and can participate fully.

5) The Green New Deal was built from, and will be achieved by, grassroots movements, and the time is right.

This is a call to action.

The Green New Deal is America’s best hope to reverse climate change in the decade we have left before we face the catastrophic impacts of climate change, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

We are the ones who can make the Green New Deal a reality.

Most people have heard of and support the Green New Deal, but they don’t really know what’s in it, how it affects them, or how to take action to make it happen. We are creating a grassroots, popular education campaign in order for people to embrace, own, and build the Green New Deal - ourselves.
